A luxurious Castle in the heart of the Reneissance Tuscany: an open window into the history landscape, a Military Fortress dating back to the 11th century, the most ancient part is still visible today dating back to the 12th Century it was the theatre of fights between the Republic of Siena and Florence.

  In 2011 after the discovery of mineral volcanic hot springs , Castello di Velona SPA Resort & Winery reopens its doors for guests after a three year wide renovation. , At present the Resort features a total of 46 rooms and Suites, the new Abbazia Restaurant with a panoramic terrace overlooking the west sunset side of Val d’Orcia.

  On top of this the 1500 sqm new SPA characterized by Mineral Hot Waters  contributes to make the Castello di Velona a unique and magical place for relax, beauty, gastronomy, art and history fans and for the most passionate wine lovers.

  Castello di Velona is the right place for wine lovers: an important wine list where stands high the Brunello di Montalcino produced in our own 32 hectare-winery, well known also for its exquisite “prima spremitura” olive oil (olives are handpicked and pressed in carefully selected traditional methods the day of the first cold pressing).

  Our Cloister

  The ancient cloister of the Castle is the pulsating heart of our Resort; sheltered by an elegant crystal cupola, our Guests can enjoy refined distillates under the enchanting Tuscan starry sky.

  Our Taverna Al Vignone

  The Taverna al Vignone features a rustic and comfortable atmosphere where our Guests can taste Tuscan specialties characterized by the special touch of our Chef. From breakfast to lunch, what better plan than lingering in the shadow of our gazebo! Our indoor dining room can welcome up to 60 seated guests, as well as our panoramic terrace.

  Our Restaurant Abbazia

  The new gourmet restaurant Abbazia offers an incomparable view of the west side of Val d’Orcia, as every area located in the new wing of the property. In front of breathtaking sunsets, our guests can enjoy refined and tasty Tuscan dinners, surrounded by the most romantic frame they could dream of.

  Pool Bar

  Right by the pool and the Spa, our Pool Bar is at your disposal during the whole day in order to offer you refreshing drinks and restorative breaks.

All the 46 rooms and suites are elegantly furnished with antique furniture, selected fabrics and fine materials.

The style of the “Castle” rooms is warm and embracing with oak-beamed, vaulted roofs, cotto floors and wide decorative fireplaces. In every room handcrafted decorations and paintings match their colors with the warm hue of the fabrics and the furniture.

The 19 new SPA rooms and suites are characterized by a linear and contemporary design and by the presence of fine materials such as travertine and corian. The comfort of these luxurious units is guaranteed by the wide bathrooms (where the tub can be filled with the mineral water hot springs) and by the outside patio where guests can enjoy their privacy and the emotional sunset in the evening.
